Professional Practise
When creating a photo,documentary or evan articles you have to consider many rules and regulations that are set in place to redce the chance of creating disharm to any indivdual or group.Some of these rules are set by the law,the channel or legislations.I will be looking at some aspects that we must concider when creating our documentary.
Ethics.
Ethics is simpuarlly the moral principles of an individual or group.According to Pojman,L. Fieser,J the authors of Ethics:discovery right and wrong ethics is sumirazized by this short quote from C.I.Lewis,The Ground And The Nature Of Right;
In all the world and in all of life there is nothing more important to determine than what is right.Whatever the matter which lies before us calling for concideration,whatever the question asked us or the problem to be solved ,there is some of it which will meeet the situation and I is to be sought…..whereever there is a disicsion to be made or any deliberation is in piont,there is a right determination of the matter in hand which is to be found adhered to,and other possible commitments which would be wrong and are avioded.
This suggests that it is in our nature to be ethic within our decitions as we are knowledged enough to know what is right.When producing our documentary we have to have an understanding of ethics and aviod them.One way in which we will do this is through the analysis of our work to identfy what could be morally inconciderate.In which we found that their could be ethics against gambeling in which some questions within our interview may have to be scrpted as some people may have personal issues with this issue and may feel intimedated or evan moked.Another issue that we may come across we found is the use of shocking images of unhealthy dogs as we are capturing a cinema virtie film we will not have any controll over the footage that we shoot .
BBC Ethics
As well as their being a universal ethical guidelines their is also guidelines that are put in place by particular channel such as the
Firstly being Emotivism which teaches that moral statements do nothing more than express speakers feelings about the issue.
Secondly being Virtue Ethics in which is the person rather than action based. It looks at the moral character of the person carrying out an action.
Thirdly Subjectvism which teaches that there are no more objective moral truths. Takes on the physiological approach and asks what are morals?
Fourthly Intuition which teaches that there are objective moral truths and that human beings can find them by using their minds in a particular,intutive way.
Fifthly situation ethics which teaches that ethical decisions should follow flexible guideline rather than absolute rules, and be taken on case by case.
Sixthly supernaturalism ethics which is a theory that creates ethics depend on god. It teaches that the only source of moral rules is god and that something is good because god says it was good.
Finally consequentalism in which it says that right or wrong depends on the consequences of an act and that more good consequences are produced, the better an act.
Personally though through our works we will be following intuition as greyhound racing is well recognised and people should be clear on the ethical issues towards this. However according to the bbc guidelines we have to also be aware of animal ethical issues as some people may not agree with greyhound racing to start with.

Ofcom
Ofcom guidelines are put in place to prevent the emotional harm of others, it is also there to protect. These include the protection of children, disbabled and social groups. When analysing the Ofcom guideline we would have to consider the following when creating our film;
Ofcom guidelines 1.11-1.13 The showing of violence and dangerous behaviour to children. I found this could be attached to this if we did not produce warnings that it is for adult material. we would also have to consider warnings for 1.14-1.16 with offensive language, as children would need to be protected over this. secondly we would also have to consider guidelines;1.28-1.30 the involvement of children which we would need to consider as there are many under 16s within greyhound racing that go their for their enjoyment. This we would over come by carrying around permission forms that the child would have to get his or her guardian to sign. Finally the Infringement of privacy in which we would have to be aware in relation with people at the dog races and spectatotors.

Copyright law
The current copyright law is the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 which orginated from the 1709 The statue of Anne.The law now gives protection of the creaters to be able to control their piece of work.We have used copyrighting with all of our current work and will carry through out time.However when we create our work we will have to take into account the copyrighting laws when it comes to imagery,music and archive footage.
Image: As we maybe using images for our trailer,poster and flyers we need to concentrate on the copyright laws making sure we do not break these.In order for us to not break these we will be adding images through http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/ which I is a fre global internet imagery archive in which do not infrigement the copyrighting law.
Archive footage:We will need to establish the copyrighting of archive footage as we may want to add glimpses of past recorded greyhound cruilty cases.Which would create emotion for the viewer.In order for us to do this without breaking the law of copywritting we will use http://www.archive.org/ which is also a free glabal internet archive storage.
Music: We will finally need to edstablish the copywritting laws of music as we may want to create or use other creaters music for our documentary but also trailer.To overcome this we will be using http://sounddogs.com/.
Release forms
These enable us to with hold a legal copy of the permission from the locations but also subjects. In addition to this these release forms also enable us to document the permission of a child to be involved in our documentary. These examples are found within the PDF and word files below;

This is the child release form that is being used.

Risk assements;Risk assements are put in place to prevent harm.They are used within every working enviroment and although seen as a pain and very time consuming are proven to prevent accidents.We will be using risk assements to clearly outline the risks when filming our documentary not only for our safty but for others.
Health and saftey forms: Alike to health and saftey forms these are put in place to prevent any accidents or harmIt highlights the problem and highlights how you over come this.This too will also be filled in every singular session we film.
Meeting with subjects.
Meeting with primaries can become an issue as we have to take into account ethical issues and apply them within our interviews, sceenary ect.. We also have to become objective and overcome any judgemental thoughts as this may bring the primary to feel uncomftable and could even lead in them backing out. However this will not happen as we will stay very professional and make our primaries as comftable and relaxed as possible. As we want to capture as many decisive moments as possible which would not occur if they felt uncomftable.
Cinema verite vs. Direct Cinema
Overall both direct cinema and Cinema verite both aim to capture decisive moments, however how they produce these decisive moments contrasts completely with each other. As overall Cinema verite believes that in order to capture reality the film maker must be participant within the film and in contact with the subject. Examples of this is Nick Broomfield’s films. However Direct cinema argues against this as it states that by having the film maker in contact with the primaries it creates docufiction not reality. Direct cinema states that the film maker should have no interaction with the subjects in order to capture reality.
