Ethics

It is our responsibility to follow the University's Policy on the ethical conduct of research and knowledge transfer and any relevant academic or professional codes of practice and guidelines pertaining to the Documentary.
I wouldn't say we have much to worry about regarding 'ethics' however we need to be careful when working with the greyhounds. We also understand that that 'secret filming' is scritly prohibited, which would result in us breaking the rules.

Some examples of the questions listed on the Ethics checklist:

1. Living human subject
2. Living animals other than those being observed in their natural habitat
3. Documentary material that is not already in the public domain
4. Handling sensitive materials, including human remains.

Copyright

We understand that photos, music and archive footage which does not belong to us is copyrighted and therefore and cannot use in our work.

We will look into this before considering to use it for our Documentary.
There are many online sites that offer 'free royalty music' which we can use or our sound man, Darren will create music for us if we want to include music.

Rights to Reply

The right of reply is the right for someone to defend oneself against public criticism in the same venue where it was published. The BBC have said "When we make allegations of wrong doing, iniquity or incompetence or lay out a strong and damaging critique of an individual or institution the presumption is that those criticised should be given a "right of reply", that is, given a fair opportunity to respond to the allegations before transmission". (Link)

As a group, we will ensure that we don't make the any wrong allegations against someone or show them differently by the use of 'editing'. We will also treat everyone as an individual and respect their rights and views regardless of their age, race, disability, and so on. We have read and understand what the 'right of reply' means and that we will only present the truth on what really happens to avoid any potentional cases being made against us.
