INITIAL IDEAS

Life as an Undertaker

This is an idea I came up with, that would follow an undertaker for a week to a month to get a good insight into what it’s like, both emotionally and physically. As this career isn’t widely spoken about, it would be interesting to get an inside look at the lifestyle an undertaker has due to its unsociable hours and the strain it may have on their emotions.

We will interview the funeral director of Dunning Funeral Services in Andover, and follow the central character which would be the undertaker working there. This will help us get more of an insight into the daily running of the business and what kind of circumstances they’ve had to face before. However it would all have to be confidential if we got permission to film inside.

We would also interview the undertaker about how he detaches himself from such upsetting circumstances at times, and what made him choose this career in particular. We’d ask how he copes with it and whether it’s just like any other job and you just detach yourself emotionally.

This idea went down well with the rest of the group and we are going to continue to research it further to see what out of the 2 ideas including the greyhound racing works best. I

I will research BBC3s documentary: The world’s youngest undertaker, to see if it works well or not and what we could do differently.

Guinness World Records

This idea would follow the journey of someone trying to break a world record. It would focus on the challenges and strain on them mentally or physically, and also show the determination to succeed. There are so many records out there, that we would need to choose just 1 record to break, and then get in contact via the official method online to be able to compete for the record.

We would also have to get in contact with someone who has already broken a record or get in touch through the contacts online, so that we can interview them and what their own journey was like.

Drug Addict/Outcast to Society

This idea would follow the story of my 30 year old brother, who has become an outcast to society through his use of drugs. It would focus on the impact he’s had on the family, and the type of person he was before he got into drugs. He could show us through his past, and take us to where he used to stay and introduce us to his friends who all have a similar mind set to him. We can interview them and ask them what their  lives are like and their opinion of him and then compare it to the family and people who actually care about him.

We can follow his journey to show what damage drugs have had on his personality and inability to integrate in to society.
