New media Application
Channel Four's Unreported world;
Within this episode of the unreported world we see the investigation of the controversial emergency legislation on the Australian Aboriginal population in which the government has used legislations to take control of their settlements to take control of child abuse but resulted into alcoholism and low settlements in which the documentary shows shocking images,self harm and the abuse of alcohol .For an in depth analysis on this documentary in techniques and manipulation click here.
How the channel promotes; By having a huge company like channel four broadcast your documentary this alone is promoting the documentary as channel four is a world wide recognised broadcasting company that is well known four producing some of the most recognised forms of documentaries such as big brother and capturing some of the most decisive moments for a documentary for example the capturing of Japans tsunami. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/japans-tsunami-caught-on-camera The channel also creates a high number of viewers for their documentaries examples being the 9/11 documentary in which over 2 million viewers were locked in. This is evidenced within the guardian article on the high volume of viewers attracted to this documentary headlining with “Channel 4's 9/11 documentary draws 2m viewers”.We aim to pitch our documentary to a a broadcasting company like channel four or evan channel four itself to help with promotion. |

Social networking sites;
These new media applications enables not only for promotion but also for discussion. Proving vital for a documentary as they are very controversial which aims to bring awareness to the public on the issue. Within this documentary they use both face book and twitter for promotion of their documentary but also to interact with the audience. Example of this is through facebook and many discussions about the hidden valley;
'I grew up in Australia and went to school in Alice Springs in the '70s. Two things about the programme were particularly shocking to me. First that the social issues, particularly the availability of "grog", still occur after nearly 30 year of social intervention by Territory/ Federal governmentthe territory/federal government and seen to have got worse!Secondly I went to intergrated school were all kids wear different ethnicitys were taught together –is school segregation the right way to address the illis of Alice Springs community as a whole?of social intervention by the Territory/ Federal government, and appear to have got worse! Secondly, I went to an integrated school where kids from all ethnic backgrounds were taught together- is school segregation the right way to address the ills of the Alice Springs community as a whole?s of social intervention by the Territory/ Federal government, and appear to have got worse! Secondly, I went to an integrated school where kids from all ethnic backgrounds were taught together- is school segregation the right way to address the ills of the Alice Springs community as a whole?'
However it also gives people a chance to interact with the show as shown with peoples suggestions;
Great piece of important invesigating, the way these people have been treated is beyond what any human should endure. Thanks for all the great work you do, cant believe it's the end of the series, i ve been waiting for a unreported world from Burma, South Sudan and a few other places, hope they're in the next series.’
These extracts were taken from facebook but however it is also seen through Twitter

Interaction with the audience The interaction with the audience is very important as it keeps the audience locked into the programme. There are many ways to do this either by posters, web links or even viral games. In which the channel four documentary unreported world seemed to have used a wide range of techniques the first being the uploads of the documentary before it was broadcasted via facebook In which it takes the cinema virtie technique in shooting behind the scene of the documentary. Another technique is the use of articles and web links for the audience to get involved. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/unreported-world/articles/related-links-australias-hidden-valley. However this is all seen clearly by the contents of the option list in which it suggests links that are related; |
Catch up
Channel four is well known for its catch up service as it enables viewers to catch up on their programmes that they might have missed. However not only does it do this but it also recommends other programmes that it believes you should watch. This is a great advertising technique that is suttle enough to actually work for the programmes advantage.
When viewing the catch up page The unreported world was within the advertisements for that week catching the eye of every new viewer, promoting their documentary more.

Some new media applications that i have created
The use of new media applications for our documentary will benefit us greatly as not only will it promote the documentary but also promote silverine productions.
Radio advertisement:
Radio advertisements are used for every business being either small or big and appeal to all generations according to the radio station that it is being advertised on to. The radio station that we have chosen is;
The Winchester sound radio in which it is a student run radio station that would enable us to advertise to a wide audience but also enable us to broadcast silverline productions. However this is not going to occur till after Christmas as we want it to be advertised during and before festival.

Forums
Forums enable audiences to dicuss and give advice about certain issues wiuthin this case was the issue of greyhounds.However i did not mainly use this for advice or discussion i used this to find a primary sourse who would be willing to be involved within our documentary.In which we found to be a success as because of this we now have one of our primarys who is an ex racer who experienced the negative side of greyhound racing.

Website:
Websites are globally now the most used new media advertising technique their is as not only does it appeal to a wide range of audiences it can also be accessed any time of day or night creating a balance with peoples lives.At the beginig of the year created the basic outline for our wesite which now complete enables people to see what our production company is all about.
Buissnesss cards When discusssng buissness cards it was clear that they must be proffessional and basic ,as a lot of information would loose the customer instead of gainikng him or her.We decided to use the logo as the background as we are branding our documentary to becoming a own and to also use the same simplistic font and size.Creating an eye catching and informative buissness card easily to the customer or subject that we are handing them too.We aim to be handing out the buissness cards to all of our subjects that we work with including race track,primary sorces and animal sanctuaries as this will look proffetional but also enables them to keep our details saftley. ![]() Uniform The first intial judgements on the group hold the strongest views and decistions.So the first impressions are cruicial.However to overcome this slightly we decided to create proffesional t-shirts that create a proffessional look for the group but also enables the subject to understand who we are and what role we play.It may make the subject feel more at ease as we are not in formal judgmental clothing but informal clothing whilst still having a proffessional out look with the t-shirts. ![]()
Blog To interact with the audience we created a blog that was via ansley Brooks account that is being used for discussions on the topic and up to date blogs about what stage at the group we are at.This enables our followers to dicuss issues and give feedback on what we are doing successfully.
Wix site We also created a wix site that will be our proffesional site for people to view.This enables us to create the site limitingly to how we need but addressing certain information about us as a production company giving an outline on just our production company . Our wix site is; http://www.wix.com/silverlineproduction/greyhound

posters By creating posters that we will be putting around every availble place it enables us to gain eye catching attention from passers encouraging them to watch our documentary and follow our production company.Although we all practgised with posters we decided that adelles version of the poster fitted better with the synominsis of our documentary.We used the brightness of red for the connotations of blood wich represents the dark side of greyhound racing but also used the number one to represent the winner.the manipulation of these is hopefully seen through the poster and catches the eye of the audience.
![]() Flyers Flyers although are put in the same catogrey of posters are in fact very different as they appeal to the more wide distrubution than posters as not onlydoes it encount for the person that has recieved the flyer but also has influenced them to pass the flyer on to friends or family.
